Apple Home Collection in Uganda: LG and Schneider Smart Home Gear

Source: Apple Newsroom, 13 October 2026 · Written for Uganda by AppleXtreme StoreOn 13 October, Apple announced the Apple Home Collection. It is a set of smart home accessories for the Apple Home app: video doorbell, indoor and outdoor cameras, a floodlight camera, a smart door lock, two thermostats and two room sensors. One thing to be clear about from the start: these are not made by Apple. The hardware comes from LG and Schneider Home (part of Schneider Electric), built to work properly with Apple Home.
They go on sale from December 2026, with a few items following in early 2027. We do not stock them yet. If you want one, message us on WhatsApp and we will register your interest, so you are first to hear when we can bring them in.
What is in the lineup
LG makes the cameras, the lock, a thermostat and a temperature sensor. Schneider Home makes the other thermostat and a room sensor. For context, US prices run from $39.95 for a sensor to $399.95 for the floodlight camera.
- LG Video Doorbell (wired): two cameras, a 2.5K one facing forward and a full HD one pointing down, plus a spotlight. The chime can play through a HomePod or HomeView.
- LG Floodlight Cam, Outdoor Cam and Indoor Cam: plug-in cameras with colour night vision. The indoor one tilts up to look around the room and tilts back down when someone in the household gets home.
- LG Smart Deadbolt Lock: unlocks as you walk up with your iPhone or Apple Watch, or by tap, PIN pad or a hidden backup key. Core functions keep working without internet.
- Thermostats and sensors: LG and Schneider Home versions, with temperature and humidity sensors for other rooms.
How it works with your iPhone
You add each accessory in the Home app with one tap on your iPhone. No separate app or account. Siri can control everything, and you can build scenes, such as a morning routine that adjusts the thermostat and starts music on a HomePod.
The cameras can recognise people, pets, vehicles and packages, and they keep recording to built-in storage if the Wi-Fi drops. Apple says Home data is end-to-end encrypted, and camera footage is processed on your own hub.
That hub matters. The cameras and the lock’s remote features need a home hub: an Apple HomeView (from UGX 1,420,000), a HomePod mini or an Apple TV 4K. If you already have one of these at home, you are halfway there. Saving camera history to iCloud needs an iCloud+ plan.
What will suit Uganda, and what will not
Let me be honest here. Some of this range is designed with US homes in mind.
The thermostats are built for central heating and cooling systems, and some installs need a C-wire power adapter, sold separately. Most Ugandan homes use split air conditioners, fans or no climate control at all, so for most of our customers the thermostats will not be a sensible buy. Apple also lists the thermostats and lock for the US and Canada at launch, and the cameras for the US, Canada and UK. Uganda is not on that list, so we will confirm what we can bring in as stock lands.
The cameras, doorbell and lock are more broadly useful. Security matters in Kampala, and a doorbell camera with a lock that works without internet makes sense, especially with our power and data cuts. The cameras are plug-in, so think about where your sockets are, and if power is unreliable, put a UPS or a backup on your router.
Should you wait for it?
- Wait: if you have an iPhone, want a tidy Apple Home setup, and care about the doorbell, cameras or lock.
- Skip for now: if you use Android, or you only wanted a thermostat for a split AC.
- Start with the hub: if you have no HomePod, Apple TV or HomeView yet, buy that first. It is useful on its own.
Buying in Uganda
We do not have the Apple Home Collection in stock, and there is no Uganda price yet, so please do not trust anyone quoting one now. Message us on WhatsApp to register interest and tell us which items you want. We will confirm availability and pricing when stock lands.
What you can buy today is the hub. View the Apple HomeView in the store, or see the HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K. We deliver the same day in Kampala and Wakiso, and in 24 to 48 hours upcountry. You can pay by MTN MoMo, Airtel Money, bank or cash on delivery, and we take trade-ins on your old Apple devices to bring the cost down.
