Apple HomeView in Uganda: Price, Features and Where to Buy
October 27, 2026 · AppleXtreme Store, Kampala
Source: Apple Newsroom, 13 October 2026 · Written for Uganda by AppleXtreme StoreApple has announced HomeView, a 7-inch smart display for the home. It sits on a kitchen counter or hangs on a wall, and it handles music, FaceTime calls, timers, camera feeds and smart home controls from one screen. It costs $299 in the US, for either version.
Apple does not sell HomeView officially in Uganda. Pre-orders opened on 13 October in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and India, with Singapore two days later, and sales start on 13 November. Ours are sourced through our own supply channels, and both versions are on pre-order with us now. Here is what it does and whether it makes sense for a Kampala home.
What HomeView is
Think of a small tablet on a speaker base, built only for the house. The screen is a 7-inch Liquid Retina display with True Tone, and it dims right down to 0.3 nits at night. It runs on an A18 chip.
It recognises up to six people by face and gives each one a personal Home Screen. Apple says messages, calendar and reminders only show for the right person, and only when their paired iPhone or iPad is nearby and recently unlocked. That matters in a family home where the screen is in the living room.
Sound, calls and everyday use
The tabletop model has two full-range drivers in the display, a down-firing woofer and two passive radiators in the base. It supports Spatial Audio. The wall version uses two drivers tuned for wall placement.
- FaceTime with Center Stage keeps you in frame as you move around the kitchen. Both sides need a FaceTime device and Wi-Fi.
- Apple Music, Podcasts and Apple TV are built in. You can hand music from your iPhone over to HomeView, and play across several rooms with other HomeView units, HomePod, HomePod mini or AirPlay speakers.
- Intercom lets you broadcast a message to one room or the whole house, reaching HomeView, HomePod, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
- It turns web recipes into step-by-step instructions and runs hands-free timers.
Smart home and cameras
HomeView controls lights, thermostats, locks, blinds and cameras by touch. The Home Camera face shows up to nine live feeds together. It works with HomeKit and Matter accessories, which are sold separately, and Apple says some features need a home hub such as HomeView, HomePod or Apple TV.
With a suitable iCloud+ plan and compatible cameras, it can pick out people, pets, packages and vehicles, and alert the household when someone reaches the door. Apple says camera and microphone data is processed separately inside the chip, away from apps.
Tabletop or wall-mounted
The tabletop model comes in silver, starlight, rose pink and space gray, with a matching USB-C cable. The wall-mounted model comes in space gray and silver.
The wall version needs a Power Mount, which is a separate purchase. In the US, those start at $59.95 for the USB-C wall connector and $79.95 for the AC wired one. A PoE version at $129.95 is due in early 2027. Wall mounting can be done yourself or by a professional, and in most Kampala homes the AC wired option would mean an electrician opening the wall. If you do not want that, take the tabletop.
The Siri AI question
Apple lists Siri AI for English in the US, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the UK. Uganda is not on that list, and Siri AI is still a beta on HomeView. Apple also says some of its features need a paired iPhone or iPad with Apple Intelligence, and that some server-side features have daily limits.
So do not buy HomeView on the promise of Siri AI working fully here. Buy it for the screen, speakers, FaceTime, Intercom, music and touch control of your home, which the newsroom does not tie to Siri AI.
Should you buy it?
It suits a household already full of Apple devices, where people want a shared screen in the kitchen or lounge. If you have a HomePod or Apple TV, it fits in beside them.
It is a poor buy if you only want a cheap speaker, or if you have no iPhone. Several of the useful parts lean on one. Also remember that the smart accessories are extra, and Apple's own camera, thermostat and lock range only starts arriving in December.
Before you buy: ask for the serial number and check it matches the box and the device. Buy sealed, from a shop that will tell you honestly where the unit came from and what warranty you get. Use a surge protector, as grid power in Uganda can spike.Buying in Uganda
