iPhone Duo in Uganda: Price, Specs and Where to Buy in Kampala

It is called the iPhone Duo, it opens like a small book, and it went on sale on 23 October after Apple announced it on 9 September. We have it in stock at our shop in Wilson One, Kampala. Here is what you need to know before you decide.
This guide covers what the phone does, what is different from a normal iPhone, and who in Uganda should and should not spend this kind of money on it. Price: from UGX 15,850,000 for the current Kampala price.
What is new
Closed, the Duo is a 5.4-inch phone you can use with one hand. Open it and you get a 7.6-inch inner screen, which Apple says is 50% larger than the screen on the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Both displays are OLED, run up to 120Hz and reach 3,000 nits outdoors, which matters in Kampala sunshine.
Opened out, it is only 5.2 mm thick, the thinnest iPhone Apple has made. It weighs 254 g, so it is not light. Expect something noticeably heavier than a regular iPhone in your pocket.
Design and colours
The frame is grade 5 titanium. The hinge has more than 100 parts and a magnet array that keeps the phone shut. The outer screen has Ceramic Shield 2, and the phone is rated IP68 for water and dust. Apple notes that this protection can drop with normal wear, so do not treat it as a swimming phone.
The inner screen has a matte, nano-texture finish that cuts glare and makes the fold line less visible. Apple does not say the crease is gone, and you should look at it in person before you pay.
There are two colours, star white and night sky, and four storage sizes: 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB.
Performance, cameras and battery
Inside is the A20 Pro, the same 2nm chip as the iPhone 18 Pro. Apple says the CPU is up to 20% faster than the A19 Pro and the GPU up to 40% faster. You are not giving up speed to get a foldable.
- Rear cameras: a 48MP main camera, a 48MP ultra wide and an optical-quality 2x telephoto. Video goes up to 4K at 120 fps in Dolby Vision.
- Fold tricks: Duo Preview shows the viewfinder on the outer screen, so the person you are photographing can see the framing. Smart Take shoots automatically when people pose. Dual Capture shares front and rear cameras at once in FaceTime.
- Front cameras: a 12MP Center Stage camera on the outer screen, and a camera hidden under the inner screen.
- Battery: one battery on each side. Apple quotes up to 31 hours of video on the inner screen and 44 hours on the outer screen.
Charging is quick if you use the right gear. Apple says a 60W-capable adapter and USB-C cable get you to 50% in about 20 minutes. MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging reach 50% in about 30 minutes.
Using it day to day
iOS 27 adds Split View to the iPhone for the first time, so you can run two apps side by side, or two windows of the same app. Apple says Netflix, Zoom and Slack already support the folding layout. For anyone who reads documents, checks WhatsApp beside a spreadsheet or edits on the go, this is the real reason to buy.
Touch ID is back, in the side button, and works open or closed. Apple Pencil (USB-C) support is promised for later this year, and Apple has not given a date.
Should you upgrade?
Buy it if you want a phone and a small tablet in one device, you handle documents or video a lot, and you are fine with a heavier, thicker phone when it is closed (11.3 mm).
Skip it if you want the lightest phone, the lowest price or the least to worry about. A foldable has a hinge, and no hinge is as simple as a slab. The iPhone 18 Pro, which has the same chip, is the safer choice, and the iPhone 18 Pro Max gives you the biggest normal screen.
Before you buy: the iPhone Duo is eSIM only, so there is no SIM tray. Ask your network whether they can activate an eSIM for you before you spend the money, and confirm it works with your line. Also buy only a sealed box, check the serial number on Apple's website, and avoid grey imports, since repairs on a hinge are not something you want to guess at.Buying in Uganda
