New Apple TV 4K (2026) in Uganda: A19 Chip, Siri AI and Pre-Order
October 27, 2026 · AppleXtreme Store, Kampala
Source: Apple Newsroom, 13 October 2026 · Written for Uganda by AppleXtreme StoreApple has announced the new Apple TV 4K, the 4th generation. It was revealed on 13 October 2026, pre-orders opened that day in the US and 29 other countries and regions, and it goes on sale on 13 November. It costs $299 in the US.
Pre-orders and reservations for Uganda are open now through WhatsApp. The Uganda price will be confirmed when stock lands, so there is no number to quote yet. Here is what is actually new, and whether it makes sense for a Kampala living room.
What's new
The box now runs on the A19 chip. Apple says that means up to 50% faster CPU and up to 2x faster GPU than the last generation, so menus, app switching and games should feel quicker.
There is also a new dedicated AV1 decoder. AV1 is a video format that gives good picture quality while using less data, and Apple says it helps streaming use lower bandwidth. We will come back to why that matters here.
Picture and sound stay at the top end: 4K with Dolby Vision and HDR10+, plus Dolby Atmos. The Siri Remote keeps its design.
Siri AI and the new microphones
The headline feature is a rebuilt Siri that opens full screen. You can ask for something like an award-winning show, see poster art from the Apple TV app, and keep asking follow-up questions. While a show is playing you can ask things such as where it was filmed, and the answer shows in a small overlay.
The Apple TV also has three far-field microphones, so you can say "Hey Siri" from the sofa without picking up the remote.
Now the part to read carefully. Siri AI is a beta in tvOS 27.2, it needs an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad in the home, and at launch it is English only. Apple lists its first markets as the US, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the UK. Uganda is not on that list. We cannot promise you will get it here on day one, so do not buy this box purely for Siri AI.
Home theatre and smart home
This is where it gets interesting if you care about sound. For the first time you can build a four-speaker surround setup with the Apple TV and HomePod mini 2. You can also use HomePod (2nd generation), as long as the front and rear pairs match. The speakers work out where they sit in the room and set their own timing and levels.
The Apple TV is also a home hub, with Wi-Fi and Thread built in. It works with HomeKit and Matter accessories, and with a compatible doorbell it can show who is at the door on screen. Accessories are sold separately.
- Find My on the remote: you can now locate a lost Siri Remote, and the newest remote can play a sound. Precision Finding needs a recent iPhone, so check Apple's compatibility notes first.
Streaming in Uganda: what to expect
An Apple TV only streams what your internet can carry, and a fast box will not fix a weak connection. If your home Wi-Fi is slow or drops in the evening, sort that out first,.
This is why the AV1 decoder is worth a mention. If the apps you use support AV1, you can get decent quality with less data, which helps on capped or mobile-based home internet.
Many popular streaming apps run on Apple TV, but what you can watch depends on each service in Uganda. Some of Apple's own content, such as live sports, is tied to the US or needs a subscription. Check that your must-have apps work here before you spend money.
On power: Kampala has surges and cuts. Plug the Apple TV and your TV into a decent surge protector, and let the box shut down normally rather than pulling the plug mid-update.
Should you buy it?
Buy it if you already live in the Apple world, have a 4K TV, and want a smart home hub or a proper surround setup with HomePod speakers.
Skip it if your TV is not 4K, your internet is unreliable, or you only want to watch a few apps. A cheaper streaming stick will do that job. And if your only reason is Siri AI, wait until we know how it behaves in Uganda.
Before you buy: ask for a sealed box, check the serial number on Apple's website, and be wary of grey imports sold with no warranty or proof of where they came from. Because this is a new release, anyone claiming to have stock before 13 November deserves questions.Buying in Uganda
