Just Got a New iPhone? The Accessories Actually Worth Buying
November 4, 2026 · AppleXtreme Store, Kampala
Every week someone collects a new iPhone from the shop and asks the same thing: "What else do I need?" The honest answer is not much, but a few things make a real difference to how long the phone lasts and how much you enjoy it. Here is our list, in the order we would buy them.
1. A case and a screen protector, on day one
The cheapest repair is the one you never need. A screen replacement on a recent iPhone costs far more than a good case and glass together. Pick a case made for your exact model, because cameras and buttons move a little every year, and if you want MagSafe accessories later, get a case with MagSafe magnets built in. We stock Apple's own iPhone cases and fitted screen protectors here at AppleXtreme Store, and we can fit the glass for you when you collect.
2. A proper USB-C charger and cable
New iPhones come with a USB-C cable but no charger. Any USB-C Power Delivery charger of 20W or more gives you fast charging; a bigger one, like a 30W or 35W, is a little quicker on recent Pro models and can also charge an iPad or a MacBook Air. Apple's 20W and 35W Dual adapters are here, and if you want one plug for everything, the Anker Nano 100W at XtremeGadgets charges a MacBook Pro as happily as a phone. Avoid no-name chargers from the roadside. They are the most common cause of the charging-port and battery problems we see in repairs.
3. A MagSafe power bank
If you only add one thing beyond protection, make it this. A magnetic power bank clicks onto the back of the phone and keeps it going through a long day or a power cut, without a cable in the way. The Powerology Vision 10000mAh MagSafe Qi2 is a good all-rounder with a kickstand and a screen showing how much is left. We wrote a full guide to choosing a power bank if you want to compare. One note: the iPhone 16e has no MagSafe magnets, so for that model go for a wired bank instead.
4. A car mount, if you drive
Using Google Maps or Waze with the phone on your lap is how phones get dropped and screens get cracked. A magnetic mount like the Porodo 360° MagSafe car mount holds the phone at eye level and lets go with one hand. If your car has a weak USB port, pair it with a magnetic car charger so the phone tops up on the way.
5. A charging stand for the bedside
Nice to have rather than essential, but once you have one you stop hunting for cables at night. A 3-in-1 or 5-in-1 stand such as the Levelo Premio 5-in-1 MagSafe station charges the iPhone and AirPods together and has a USB port for one more device. For Apple Watch owners, a dedicated braided USB-C Watch charger is a good spare for the office or travel bag.
6. For video: a gimbal and a wireless mic
If you make content for TikTok, YouTube or a small business page, these two do more for your videos than a new phone would. A gimbal like the DJI Osmo Mobile 7 smooths out walking shots and can follow you around the frame. A wireless lav mic such as the Hollyland LARK M2 combo, which comes with both USB-C and Lightning receivers, makes your voice clear even on a busy street.
What you can skip
Lens protectors on cameras that already have sapphire covers, "battery saver" apps, and very cheap fast-charge cables. None of them do much, and the last one can do harm.
Cases, glass and Apple chargers are here in our shop. Power banks, mounts, stands and video gear are at XtremeGadgets, under For Apple. Or send us your model on WhatsApp and we will put a small bundle together for you.
